Community Mud
Community Mud, a new ceramics studio in Parker, Colorado, is designed to be a sanctuary for creativity, mindfulness, and community connection. Rooted in the belief that art can be a powerful tool for personal and communal growth, owner Kaylee Eichholz states, “We really want to provide a place to be mindful. You can put down your phone and focus on clay for hours and the time just flies. It's a really peaceful activity and we want to just encourage that and cultivate that type of environment.”
Community Mud offers multiple ways to create, “A studio membership with Community Mud provides you access to our full equipment. So we have pottery wheels, we have a slab roller, we have an extruder, we have our kiln, which we will do the firing, and then we'll also have a glaze range of over 50 glazes”. The studio also offers weekly classes that teach pottery techniques, helping beginners learn the basics and offering experienced potters the chance to expand their skills. Additionally, Community Mud hosts group events, including date nights and special workshops.
With new businesses emerging and a rapidly expanding population, Parker residents can find more and more creative opportunities within their own community. The growing population is ideal for a space like Community Mud, "We are on the corner of Parker and Hess. This is an up-and-coming area. They're developing across the street on both corners.” Kaylee has also seen a lot of support from the community, “I really found my neighbors are friendly. Everyone I interact with when I'm just out and about is really friendly, really encouraging about the business. We've had a lot of outreach or outpouring of support for our business from people who've never met us, they're just excited about it. So I think just the overall feeling of community in Parker was really important to me.”
When asked what Kaylee would say to someone who has never tried pottery before, she replied, “I would say everybody starts not knowing how to do pottery. I would show them this is what some people can create if they stick with it. We're here just to help you create your vision, we're going to teach you the basic tools and techniques that you'll need to create whatever you want to make.”
Community Mud is open and ready to welcome anyone with a desire to create, learn, and try. Open 24 hours for those with a membership, you can learn more about one of Parker’s newest businesses at www.communitymud.com.
